Welcome To The Deal, September 2017
As many of us return from the well-earned summer break, we are still being confronted by the dreaded “B” word and I apologise in advance for mentioning it.
Over twelve months on Brexit is still very much with us and it is unavoidable in the property press and also when meeting peers to discuss the matter. On a national front it appears that the negotiations are becoming increasingly complex and our experience locally is that whilst there is some uncertainty, a pro-active pathway must be found in order to deal with the challenges businesses are faced with.
Throughout the North West the property sector appears to be rather bullish in its approach and has very much assumed an attitude of “carry on regardless”. We sense that there is a general reluctance to engage Brexit as an excuse for inactivity and ultimately miss out on the opportunities available. We all hope this will continue to be the case.
The next twelve months should be very exciting times in the commercial property sector as we see buildings emerge from the ground at Frontier Park at Junction 6 of the M65 and also Millennium Park at Burnley Bridge which is being brought forward by the Eshton Group. Whilst these developments will ease the demand for quality industrial developments in the short term, there is still plenty of room for more as businesses nationally realise the full potential for investing in the North West of England.
